Swami Vivekananda Jayanti

Like every year, this year also Vidyalaya celebrated National Youth Day with full glory and grandeur. The day started with a Marathon Race at 6:30 a.m. The flag off at the spot was done by Mr. Nacchetri Singh Assi. Boys started from Thana Chariali, and for girls it was the New Tinsukia Railway Junction. The finishing point for both was the VKV School Gate. A number of schools participated in the event namely Tinsukia College, Hindustani Kendra Vidyalaya, Jatiya Vidyalaya, Budding Buds Sr. Sec. School, Bengali Girls Higher Secondary School, Sarbajanin Ballika Vidyalaya along with a number of participants from VKV , tinsukia. From 8 to 10 in the morning a Shradhanjali Programme was arranged for the common people of the town. People paid homage by offering flowers to Swamiji. 
At 1 o’clock in the afternoon, Cultural programme began with the melody of “Vande Mataram”. The chief guest for the programme was Jai Krishna Mahanta, an eminent educationist.
Prizes for a number of events were given away. The first prize for Inter-school wall magazine competition was bagged by Hindustani Kendra Vidyalaya, Tinsukia followed by joint winners Bengali girls high school, Tinsukia & Baruahola high school. The third prize was bagged by Sarbajanin Balika Vidyalaya.
About 1200 people gathered in the school field for the programme including parents, students and alumni. The agenda for the cultural programme consisted of a number of dance performances like Sattriya, Kathak etc , along with drama and musical displays.  The programme was a grand success and everyone enjoyed it to the fullest.
