Vivekananda Kendra is a spiritually oriented service mission with its Head Quarter at Kanyakumari in Tamilnadu. The organisation is a living memorial of Swami Vivekananda, the Great Patriot Saint of our motherland. The objective of Vivekananda Kendra is 'Man Making and Nation Building'. In order to achieve this, Vivekananda Kendra has started a number of projects in different parts of our country.Swami Vivekananda during his wanderings all over India had come to Kanyakumari and meditated at the mid sea rock, on 25, 26 & 27 December 1892. It was on this rock, that he discovered the mission for building a glorious India. On this sanctified place has come up a grand memorial to Swami Vivekananda in 1970 with tireless efforts of Late Mananeeya Eknathji Ranade and with the participation of millions of people of India.

Not contended with a momorial in rock, Late Mananeeya Eknathji Ranade envisaged raising an organization to undertake the work towards achieving Swami Vivekananda's vision of a glorious India. Vivekananda Kendra, the living memorial came up in 1971.

The Kendra has 250 branch centers spread all over India. Life workers, whole time workers and the local workers of the Kendra, conduct various service activities like Yoga Varga, shiksha Vargas, Rural Development Projects, Educational Projects, Youth and women Developments and so on. Kendra also brings out a number of publications in different languages to awaken a spiritual and nationalistic urge among the youth of India and channelizing it for national reconstruction..
