Tinsukia, Aug. 15: Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Laipuli, celebrated the 79th Independence Day with grandeur and devotion to the motherland. The day began with Puspanjali at the Shahid Vedi and Manglacharan by Smt. Tushi Dey, setting a solemn yet uplifting tone.
Chief Guest Dr. Jagdish Hedawoo, retired Associate Professor of Surgery, GMC Nagpur, and long-time Kendra associate, received the Guard of Honour before hoisting the tricolour. In his inspiring speech, he urged students to uphold freedom through service and discipline. Also present was Dr. Vinay Joshi, retired Civil Surgeon from Pune, now serving at VK Swasthya Seva Kendra.
The cultural tableau featured a patriotic song, an inspiring address by Smt. Sampa Chakraborty, vibrant dances by primary and secondary students, and a lively group recitation. Adding youthful charm, Balsabha competitions for Balvatika and Classes I & II showcased creative pulse pasting, solo dances, tearing and pasting, clay art, and “Go As You Like.”
The celebration concluded with Shanti Path, radiating the message of peace, unity, and national pride.
