Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Tinsukia, observed Gandhi Jayanti and Shastri Jayanti on 2nd October 2026 with reverence and enthusiasm. Students from Classes IV to XII participated in the programme, which reflected on the values of truth, non-violence, simplicity, discipline, and service.
The programme began with the Shanti Mantra and Mangalacharan, followed by a floral tribute by the Principal, Shri Ravindranath D. Savdeykar, to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. Keshoya Didi spoke about the significance of the day and the contributions of both leaders, highlighting Shastriji’s inspiring slogan, “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan.” A student of Class VIII, Ashlekha Gogoi, spoke on Gandhiji’s ideals of truth and non-violence.
The programme also included soulful bhajans by Kakoli Didi and Moumita Didi, and an informative PowerPoint presentation by Arpita Didi and Krishnangi Didi on the lives of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.
As part of the celebration, students of Classes IV and V took part in “Ek Kadam Meri Taraf Se…”, where they pledged to practise good values in their daily lives. Their footprints together formed a meaningful “Path of Values.” The students also participated in a cleanliness drive, giving a simple and practical expression to Gandhiji’s message of swachhata (cleanliness).
