An educational tour to Majuli, the world’s largest riverine island located in the Brahmaputra River in Assam, was organized on 30th November 2024.The objective of the tour was to provide experiential learning by exploring the island’s cultural heritage, environmental significance, and socio-economic aspects.
In this day long tour total Participants students were 83 with 5 faculty members.
Arrival and Exploration
The group visited some of Majuli’s famous Satras (Vaishnavite monasteries) such as the Aouniati Satra, Chamuguri and Dakhinpat. The students learned about the cultural and spiritual significance of the satras, which are centers for dance, music, and art. The group observed traditional practices such as mask-making and pottery, which reflect the rich heritage of the island.
